What He Passed On
A Legacy Beyond Photographs
My grandfather, Karel Suszka, left behind more than a collection of photographic negatives. Through his camera, he preserved ordinary moments, familiar faces, and fragments of everyday life that might otherwise have been forgotten.
Years later, as I began digitizing and restoring his photographs, I discovered a new way to connect with him. Every negative became a small window into the world he once knew.
Today, preserving his photographs is more than a restoration project. It is my way of honoring his memory and ensuring that the moments he captured continue to be seen and remembered.
The Beginning of My Journey
My journey into photography began when I was just eight years old. It was my grandfather, Karel Suszka, who introduced me to the camera and taught me how to capture the world around me.
What started as a childhood curiosity gradually grew into a lifelong passion. Photography became my way of exploring places, observing people, and preserving moments that might otherwise be forgotten.
Looking back today, I realize that those early experiences with my grandfather shaped the way I see the world through my own lens.
