Beautiful fall day at Goebbert’s Farm in Pingree Grove

Cary, IL 10/05/2025

We visited this farm with my family about a week ago. The weather was pleasant, just the beginning of autumn, but still warm. It had been a few years since our last visit, and we were pleasantly surprised by the number of new things we saw and the changes that had taken place. It’s evident that the owners take great care of the farm and strive to ensure that visitors feel comfortable and enjoy their stay.

Welcome to Goebbert’s Farm in Pingree Grove, IL

One of the most interesting aspects of the farm was the arrangement of exotic animals for visitors to see. This year, they had kangaroos with their babies that jumped out and climbed back into their pockets—an experience I’ve never had before. There were also camels, a giraffe, and domestic animals that are likely found on other continents. Visitors could even ride the camels.

kangaroo family on display

Have you ever seen anything like that before? A baby kangaroo safely nestled in its mother’s pocket is truly a rare and special sight. I’m very fortunate to have had the chance to capture such a unique moment with my camera.

The food offered at the farm was quite diverse, ranging from American classics to Mexican traditions to unique treats that you won’t find anywhere else. It’s always a good idea to try something extra, and this farm certainly provided that. Yes, the food was a bit more expensive than elsewhere, but it’s a once-a-year event, and each serving contributes to a good cause. After all, next year will be even better.

Another fascinating exotic animal spotted on the ground is the giraffe. Visitors could feed this gentle giant and observe just how long and graceful its taunt neck truly is.

The farm offers a wide range of attractions that cater to both children and adults. There are thrilling slides, shooting ranges, a pumpkin cannon, and more. I was particularly impressed by the train that circumnavigates the farm, offering panoramic views from different perspectives. Additionally, the train passes by locations adorned with skeletons, symbolizing life in the Wild West.

That’s how incredibly close you can get to a camel. How often do you actually get to see something like that up close, am I right? It’s a rare and amazing experience.
